Defying Gravity!

Defying Gravity! (2-Session Saturday Class)

How do airplanes stay in the air? Why do parachutes slow a fall? What forces help rockets launch and racers move?

In this exciting two-session STEAM adventure, students will investigate the science of motion, gravity, lift, drag, thrust, and resistance through hands-on engineering challenges. Participants will test and refine parachute designs, launch straw rockets, experiment with the forces that affect movement, and design their own air-powered bottle racers.

Inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's fascination with flight and engineering, students will think like inventors as they build, test, observe, and improve their creations. Through collaboration, experimentation, and creative problem-solving, learners will discover how engineers use science to overcome challenges and turn bold ideas into reality.

By the end of the course, students will have a deeper understanding of the forces that shape our world—and the confidence to explore new possibilities through innovation and design.
