Opening a museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci is not simply a matter of displaying inventions. It requires recreating the spirit of curiosity, experimentation, and hands-on discovery that shaped his work. Over the past several months, our team has been laying the foundations for a space where visitors can explore the intersection of art, engineering, and imagination.
Construction continues inside the facility as each gallery takes shape. Themes drawn from Leonardo’s notebooks guide the layout. Mechanics, flight, anatomy, water, optics, and more slowly move from sketches to real architectural footprints. A blank room gradually becomes a place with purpose as walls, lighting, and exhibit zones are built out.

At the same time, our curatorial and education teams are collaborating with the Artisans of Florence. This world-renowned workshop is responsible for crafting historically accurate, museum-grade reconstructions of Leonardo’s machines. These models arrive piece by piece and are crafted using materials that Leonardo himself used: wood, rope, metal pins, and hand-shaped components.
Over the coming months, we will continue to share glimpses behind the scenes. New machines will arrive, galleries will take form, and the museum will evolve from concept to reality. It is a rare opportunity to watch a cultural space come to life step by step, and we are excited to bring you along.
